Heritage Walk for the National Trust 23rd August 2007 A Heritage Walk was held on the 23rd August 2007 for The National Trust, Nottingham Centre Local and Family History Group, led by Peter Butler (Hucknall Heritage Society) & Sandy Singleton (Hucknall Tourism and Regeneration Group). The group thoroughly enjoyed their walk around Hucknall and had good weather for the day. A member of the group said that perhaps next year they could book a Heritage Bus tour to see more of Hucknall and area. ____________________________________________________________________________ Hucknall International Byron Festival 22nd June - 4th July 2008 A whole series of fun and entertaining events for all the family will take place between 22nd June and 4th July. Please click here for more information. ____________________________________ Official opening of the Hucknall VISITOR INFORMATION POINT The newly refurbished Visitor Information Point located in Hucknall Library was formally opened on 4th July 2006. Amongst those present were Professor John Healey of Experience Nottinghamshire, Councillor Holmes, Chairman of Ashfield District council and his wife, Mr and Mrs Singleton Chair and treasurer of HTRG, Mr Philip Marshall of Notts County council library services, Councillor John Wilmott of Ashfield District Council and Councillor Collins of Notts County council. The Information point, staffed entirely by HTRG volunteers, which has been open since April 2004, now has a completely new look designed to coordinate with the main Nottingham Tourism Centre based in the city centre. Not only has it retained all the existing local leaflets, travel information and the touch screen information point it now also includes a free dedicated telephone service which connects to the main Nottingham Tourism Centre allowing users to book hotels, make national enquiries etc. The new site also has an illuminated display cabinet for items of local interest. The refurbishment was carried out in partnership with Experience Nottinghamshire, Hucknall Tourism and regeneration Group, Ashfield District Council and the Nottinghamshire County Council Library Service. It is believed to be the first project of this kind based within a UK library. HUCKNALL SHOP WINDOW DRESSING COMPETITION 2008 After the success of the 2006 window dressing competition it has been decided to run this event on a bi-annual basis. Consequently the next Hucknall Shop Window Dressing Competition will be held during August 2008. Further details to follow.
